Display Gallery & Workshop

Display Gallery

After seeing my artwork, people are curious about two things; where do I display my collection of miniatures, and what does my workshop look like. Thanks for your interest and here are your answers.

Just like this website, the miniatures are displayed in the order of creation on 4-tier bookshelves measuring 12′ long. The backdrop is a 12′ wide x 8′ high wall mural of a Cape Cod sunrise with waves lapping the rocky shore and sandy beach. The combination of the mural and bookshelves makes for the most realistic setting I could imagine.

The bookshelves can hold 32 miniatures in total, eight on each tier. As I create more and add them to these shelves, I will update the photo below.

Workshop

I converted a spare room into what has grown to be a very functional workshop. When I started out building my first miniature, “Lobster Shack”, I had a table, some popsicle sticks, and Elmer’s glue. As my interest and level of challenge grew for this artform, so did my workspace, inventory, and supplies.

The knowledge I have gained along the way is invaluable. With experience and knowhow, I have learned that not all glue is created equal, and each has its own specific purpose. Because I work with wood, foamboard, plastic, cardstock paper, craft tin foil, 2-part liquid resin, etc., I have amassed 11 different types of glue for whatever my need is, and yes, I do use all 11.

Most of my supplies and miniature decorations that I can’t make myself are purchased at reduced rates. The Matchbox cars used in some of my miniature scenes were purchased for $1 each at, believe it or not, Kroger grocery store. Additionally, I have found Temu and Etsy very helpful in locating a myriad of tiny things.
